So, I had my first doctor's appointment last week. Well, it was really one appointment split into two days. My appointment was originally on Wednesday, March 24th, but when I got there, my doctor had to leave because one of his full-term patients was in the hospital with an emergency. So, I went ahead and got my blood work done and went back on Friday, March 26th to get the results and take care of the rest of my appointment. :-)
All-in-all, the appointment went really well! My blood work came back healthy, no weird diseases or STDs, so that's good! LOL. The only thing that I wasn't able to have was my first ultrasound. That's because my due date isn't exactly easy to pinpoint. While most people just go by the first day of their last period to calculate a due date, I can't do that because I know for a fact that I ovulated a week later than average, so that changes my due date a little. This would put me at slightly not far enough along for an ultrasound to see anything significant (i.e. heart beat, etc.) So, we decided to wait another 1-2 weeks to allow more growth with the baby. And also, Mark will be able to be at the first ultrasound if we waited! :-) So, yay!
So, now our first ultrasound is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7th. Hopefully, we'll see some exciting stuff!
For those of you who are wondering, right now, I'm somewhere between 7-8 weeks pregnant. If you go by the first day of my last period, I'm 8 weeks pregnant. If you go by the day I ovulated, I am 7 weeks 2 days pregnant. So, somewhere between 7-8 weeks. Hopefully, an ultrasound will help to come up with a little more accurate due date.
Currently, my due date has been marked (by my doctor) as November 8, 2010.

MY FIRST MATERNITY DRESS
I noticed that a lot of the stores near my hotel have maternity sections. Places like Zara, Top Shop, H&M, etc.
Well, I was at Top Shop today, and I ended up buying this striped maternity dress!
Isn't it adorable?! :-) I just had to get it. :-D It's actually cute to wear right now as well, there is just room to grow!

OH, MY ACHEY BOOBS!
Not to go too TMI here, but seriously! My boobs have NEVER hurt this much. The severity of pain fluctuates, but the overall discomfort is constant. It has gotten much worse since I arrived here in London. I have been complaining about my boobs for a good two weeks now, and then I get this email from WhatToExpect.com:
Your Pregnant Body This Week
Week 7 of Pregnancy: Your Swollen Breasts
"Your breasts are likely swelling to proportions you never imagined possible (some women have grown a full cup size by this point) and are becoming uncomfortably tender, tingly, and achy. Even if you're not telling anyone you're pregnant yet, your baby's certainly telling you. Not in so many words but in so many pregnancy symptoms. Like that nagging pregnancy nausea that follows you around day and night, or all that excess saliva pooling in your mouth (am I drooling ?). And then there's that other early pregnancy sign you certainly can't miss (especially when you struggle to button your blouse): those changes in your breasts (are these really mine?).
Your breasts are likely swelling to proportions you never imagined possible (some women have grown a full cup size at 7 weeks pregnant) and are becoming uncomfortably tender, tingly, and achy — mostly because of the increased amounts of that hormone duo, estrogen and progesterone. Fat is also building up in your breasts, and blood flow to the area is increasing. Your nipples may be sticking out a little more than usual — and though they may look good enough to touch (better than ever, perhaps), they're so sensitive and tender, you'd probably prefer that they weren't. The areola, the dark area around the nipple, has already gotten darker and larger — and will continue to grow and deepen in color over the months to come. On a less attractive note, you'll also notice little goose-bump-like spots on the areola. These bumps, called Montgomery tubercles, are sweat glands that supply lubrication to the areola. And in case you're wondering why all these changes are taking place, here's your answer: They're getting your breasts ready to feed your baby in about 33 weeks."
So, I don't know how long this sore boobs thing is supposed to last, but it's definitely a CON of being pregnant! Lol.

ANOTHER FOOD AVERSION...
Meat. I can't stand it. And not any specific meats. Just ALL meats. :-( I guess I'll have to find some other way to get protein!

MY FIRST FOOD AVERSION?
So, I've been waiting to see if I would have any food aversions, and I think the first one finally hit me.
Mushrooms.
The smell of them, the taste of them, even the look of them makes me want to vomit. So, yeah. No mushrooms for me.
Thank you. :-)

PARIS, SANS VIN, SANS FROMAGGE, SANS ETC.
Paris is wonderful! Such a beautiful city! However, I have not been able to enjoy Paris to the fullest because of the pregnancy. Now, don't get me wrong! I am beyond thrilled about being pregnant, and I would give up water and air for this baby to come into our lives! I'm just saying, it would be kinda nice to enjoy a nice glass of wine (instead of watching Mark drink it) or enjoy cheese without worrying about weather or not it's made with raw milk. Lol. Oh, well. :-)
Either way, with any luck, Mark and I will have a little baby in our lives in less than 8 months! :-D

MY PREGNANCY CRAVING
Okay, I don't know how early pregnancy cravings are supposed to set in, but let me tell ya... Lately, I cannot get enough chips and salsa! Chips and salsa is a daily occurrence for me right now.
And really, just really spicy foods are just heaven right now. It's wreaking havoc on my digestive system right now though. I'm thinking that I'm going to need to start laying off of the spicy foods soon. LOL!

MY NURSERY IDEA
So, for several months now, I've had a vision of what I want the baby's nursery to look like. I am going to go for something along the lines of this:
The only difference is that the tan part of the room will be a light green color. It's kind of hard to explain it, but I will try. So, there are four walls of the bedroom that will be the nursery. The bottom half of the walls will have a white wainscoting on it. The top half of only three of the walls will be painted light green. The one remaining wall (which will be the main wall that you see when you first walk into the room) will be painted an off white color. On that wall, I will have a tree painted, similar to the one in the picture, likely in the same light green color. It'll either be that, or all four walls are painted green (with the white wainscoting on the bottom half) with a white tree on the wall. Something along those lines. Details will have to be worked out when we actually begin work on the nursery. :-) What I do know is that I will likely have a bird theme in the room, especially if it's a girl. I have yet to decide weather or not I will have dark brown furniture or white furniture.
If the baby is a girl, then this is the bedding that I have been looking at for the past few months. :-)

Isn't it cute?!? Anyway, we will see! I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but still. It's fun to think about!!!

IT'S CONFIRMED :-)
So, I know that I took a billion at-home pregnancy tests, but it was officially confirmed today that I'm pregnant. :-)
I recently went to see an internal medicine doctor and just as a precaution, he took a blood sample to test for pregnancy. And they called back today with the lab results and it was positive. :-)
HOORAY!!!!!
So, I'm not imagining those double pinks lines or the word "pregnant" on the at-home tests. Whew!

FEELING ANXIOUS
It's crazy...this whole waiting game. I'm only about 4-5 weeks into my pregnancy, and knowing that I won't be seeing my doctor for two more weeks is making me all weird and anxious! I think I will feel better once I see him and get an ultrasound that shows me that everything is progressing the way that it should. I wish I wouldn't let my fears get the best of me, but unfortunately, it happens. I mean, every little tingle or sensation I feel in my stomach or abdomen area gets me all paranoid! Which probably isn't good for my stress level! Thank goodness for my exercise boot camp! That definitely helps to calm me down a bit.
I prayed a rosary last night because I was starting to feel anxious again. I realized that it the perfect thing to do when I'm feeling stressed out or worried. It's almost like meditation. So, I'm hoping that praying the rosary, exercise and my trip to Europe will distract me enough and keep me calm enough until my first OB appointment!

I'M PREGNANT!
After months and months of trying, MARK AND I ARE EXPECTING OUR FIRST BABY! :-D We couldn't be more excited! I took an at-home pregnancy test during the late-evening of Thursday, March 4th, so we've only known the good news for about 5 days now. :-)
I had been so used to seeing negative test, after negative test, after negative test. So, I didn't really expect this one to be different. I was almost just used to seeing the single line instead of the double one! So, imagine my surprise when I looked at the test and sure enough, there were two lines!!! One of them was really faint, but it was there! I didn't believe it, so I took a BUNCH more!!!!
